The Expo Shanghai Publicity Week & Exhibition "The Path to World Exposition" started on Dec 6th of 2007 in Guangzhou. The event will last for a week till Dec 12th. The exhibition of "The Path to World Exposition" highlighted the relation between Guangdong and the Expo, which has had a long history.
The first Chinese who attended the Expo was Xu Rongcun, a businessman from Xiangshan of Guangdong. Moreover, the first Chinese who proposed to host the World Expo in Shanghai was Zheng Guanying, also from Xiangshan, Guangdong and his "forecast for hundred years" is full of far-sight. The exhibition also displayed the awards obtained by products from Guangdong in previous World Expositions, including the prestigious carved ivory ball of Guangdong which was awarded with the top prize of "Best handicraft of the world" in Expo San Francisco U.S.A. in 1915.
According to Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, first day of the event attracted 35,000 local visitors.
